366 days to 40

Movie Quote of the Day: “We’re gonna have the hap hap happiest holiday since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye!” – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Name that Tune:  “Where the snow lay roundabout, deep and crisp and even” – Good King Wenceslas

It’s snowy out again!

School’s out as of Friday and the illness I have been threatening to cave into for the last 2 weeks has finally decided to kick in. Holidays have begun – no need to cling onto health for the sake of work – Dive! dive! dive into the Christmas lurgy. Coughing in Bman’s face all night long which, natch, I get blamed for even though I was asleep and not in control of bodily faculties.

It’s the old gerburtstag tomorrow. 39 years old and feeling 60 just now and probably looking not far off. On the plus side there is a gift under my tree courtesy from a very good (and attentive) friend which looks as if it may be a parrot. Not a real one of course, unless it’s dead, cos it’s not moving around or pecking at the box or anything. I’ll let you know tomorrow, it may just be the biggest box of chocolates ever.

In the meantime. Enjoy this story of festive generosity from across the pond. Makes me feel all warm (and not just cos of the 3 inch of Vicks on my chest)   http://thebloggess.com/?p=9493

PS: Do you know what’s fun at Christmas time? Taking a pre-birthday bath and then all the water not going down the plughole because the pipes are frozen outside. Maybe we could just throw some glitter into the murky water to add to the festiveness of the broken bathroom window which can’t be fixed properly until 10th January which is presently covered with “specialist covering only to be applied by a glazier” which looks suspiciously like the tackyback plastic we use at work
